Lead Pencil Studios

I really liked this group of artist or should I say couple, considering it consist of only two artists. They met at college together because they were both architecture majors who had a craving for moving more into the art scene. So after a contest came to the town they were residing in they both took off from there and now create amazing pieces using architecture and art combined. I find their work very inspiring to me and I would definetly like to try this when I am older.

Jessica Hische

After seeing all of her incredibly creative and innovative types of fonts I was very moved. Before I had seen her works I always picture font as something thats just there and not really a form of art. But after seeing the amazing stuff that she had envision and created just made think it all over. I know think of typography as something totally different than I had before. Even the fact that she landed all these jobs/internships that she loved and were with major companies really got me thinking. I guess all you need to go far in life is to do something you love with hard work and dedication.

Self Portrait Texture Project

For this project we had to scan in different textures to create a piece that had to relate to ourselves.

5 Layer Photoshop Project

For this project I had to create an image using photos that I have taken from around the city and then apply 5 different layers to the image. Then I had to some how void the copyright laws by adding an image to it. Before you know it, the final image....

The Ben Volta

For this weeks lecture we had a speaker named Benjamin Volta. He went to highschool around here, to be exact he went to Abington Highschool. Which was werid when I heard that name metioned because I just met a couple kids this year who went to that school. Before this I had no idea that it even existed. But getting back on track. I really did like the work he did. Although it looks completely abstract it contains many figurative elements. This gives his piece a really eye catching effect to the viewer. In my opinion he was one of the best artist to give a speech a tyler. He had a really up beat and positive personality which kept you awake throughout the whole lecture. In the future I really want to create a piece like one of his and I will definelty search through his work in my free time.

Tommy Gun

This time the lecture was about a man we will call Mr. Thompson.....His work was very unique from what ive seen so far from the other lectures. He has a very specialized style which he uses and recreates in all of his works. The fact the he his a carpenter definetly plays a large role in the style of how his pieces come out. They all seem to be heavily formulated and contain a lot of defined lines. I really like the fact that he lives up the name of a starving artist by living in a basement of a bakery...or maybe not starving if he gets the leftover food...either way his work is extremely interesting and I hope to see some of his stuff in a museum one day.

Photoshop Assignment

This was a small project we had to do in Computers after learning the basics about the photoshop. We had t o use a picture and change it in our way that made it our own. For my project, I used a photograph of the miners that were trapped in the mine in Chile. Here is the celebration picture.

Douglas Bucci

In my opinion this was my favorite of all the lectures to date. I think that Douglas Bucci's work really stood out to me, and I really felt a connection. The way he talked about it really drug me in and kept my interesting through out the entire presentation. I really liked that all of his pieces had a connection to something, they weren't just all randomly created. For example a lot of them are based of living with diabetes. Since this disease has become a very influential part of Douglas Bucci's life. Also I really like how he showed his first works and how much he has progressed throughout his time as an artist and a jeweler.

One of my favs.

The future of cell phones

After watching this video, I am absolutely astounded about what the future of technology has in store for us. Just look back ten years from now and you can see how much technology has progressed. How much smaller, more compact and smaller it has gotten. Instead of us interacting with it, we now know that it can interact with us. Making them smarter than our own human capabilities and being able to process information/data at a much faster rate than any person ever could. Who knows all those stories about robots taking over the human race and ruling the world could actually come true, if we are progressing as fast as we are today.

Marianne Dages

In all seriousness I think that this lecture was the most productive and the one that I learned the most from. All her talking about doing studio space and internships in new and interesting places. From what I can tell from her work and the stories that she told during the lecture, I can tell that internships are a very important factor. Not only to becoming a better artist but to also grow as one. I am becoming very interested in following up in an internship after my undergrad. From what she described it to be, it seems to be a invigorating experience that all should do.

I Want Candy!

For the lecture of September 21st, we had the opportunity of meeting the artist Candy Depew. Most of her works are done in ceramics or fabric. But she does use many of types of mediums in her work, which I really think helps her stand out from the rising crowd in the art scene today. I really like how most of her work is centered around one main theme other than multiple ones. Her style of art is very interesting an unique compared to most others that you see today. In a lot of her works she repeats colors and shapes, creating a very compelling visual experience for the viewer. The way that she incorporates the "blooddrops" in her pieces really engages my eye and draws me toward it.

Peter Hanley Critique

I really like Peters style of art. It is very unique and creative, he was one of the first or not the one who really brought grunge-punk style into art. He really made it into what it is now and brought it into its current status. This kind of art is almost one of a kind, which really makes it an interesting center piece to talk about. You can check out his stuff with this link

Copyright Craze

There's always been a lot of discussions about the boundaries of copyrighting and when it is safe to and when it is not. This is a very controversial subject to engage in and can lead to many arguments. For example is it safe to use another persons media in a video that you have created? even if your doing it recreation and not for cash? These are the questions that need to be answered quickly and painlessly, without creating any controversy. With the current advancement of technology always taking place the rules of what we can do with it are always going to be stretched and remolded. This issue needs to be resolved sometime in the near future or the copyright war will never end.

Bringing down the Bauhaus

It wasn't until the lecture that I have first heard of the Bauhaus. The concept behind it was incredibly interesting and innovative for the time that it was created in. It was built in a time where society was more focused on war and industrialization, not art and style. I am very interested in the fact that the creators of this place believed in the idea of making objects simpler and clearer for the buyer. They would purposely simplify everyday tools to help the understanding of the user. For example during the lecture they brought up that they would often redesign things such as chairs or windows. To make them more efficient and just all around easier to use. This type of thinking was way ahead of its time, and the leaders of this foundation are very intelligent.

Taking Pictures

On saturday, I had taken the subway to the University of Penn to visit a friend. While I was there we stopped to get ice cream and take a break from my picture taking. The campus is really nice and has a very welcoming feeling to it.  After we were done there, we took a short trip to South Street. Nothing really interesting happened but atleast I got to complete my work.
